Fifty-two casters with a 1/2-13 threaded stem, from Colson and CasterHQ, all swivel. Wheels run 2 to 5 in, nearly all on 1-1/4 in treads, in polyurethane, blue solid polyurethane, thermo rubber, Colson Performa rubber, semi-steel, phenolic and nylon, rated 200 to 350 lb per caster. Total lock and top lock brake versions are offered for carts that have to park. The common stem length here is 1-1/2 in, so check the old caster before ordering.

Brakes

Top lock (wheel lock): stops the wheel. Colson Performa and HI-TECH casters offer it in 3-1/2 to 5 in.
Total lock: stops the wheel and swivel. Offered on Colson and CasterHQ blue polyurethane models.

Fitting

A 1/2-13 stem is 1/2 in across with 13 threads per inch. It screws into a tapped hole, a threaded socket in a tube leg or a nut on a plate. The stem should be a little shorter than the hole is deep so the swivel seats flat against the leg. Tighten with a wrench on the hex at the base of the stem where there is one, not by twisting the fork.
