All measurements indicate the wheel diameter by the tread width.
The below capacity ranges indicate the working (dynamic) load that each caster will support. A safety factor should be included in your formula to determine your required load rating per caster.
W/(C-1)=R W is total weight needed to move. C is total number of casters required. R is ideal load rating, with safety factor built in. Divide the total load weight by one less caster than you will use to safely determine load rating.
Plate dimensions shown are overall mounting plate size.
When replacing existing casters, select the closest plate size and verify bolt-hole compatibility.
BHP = Bolt Hole Pattern, shown under each plate.
Stainless steel (304 grade) casters support up to 3,200 lbs per caster and feature full stainless construction for corrosion-resistant operation in food processing, pharmaceuticals, washdown environments, and coastal applications. CasterHQ stocks stainless casters with 304 SS wheels, plates, and swivel yokes from 3" to 8" — available with lock and brake options rated for NSF and USDA food service compliance. Most ship same day from our network of over $100 million in U.S. warehouse inventory.
304 stainless steel resists corrosion from moisture, chlorine, acids, and alkaline sanitizers used in food processing and pharmaceutical manufacturing. Standard steel casters rust in wet environments, requiring frequent replacement. Stainless 304 casters maintain structural integrity through thousands of wash cycles and high-temperature sterilization. Food-grade stainless casters are NSF H1 and USDA compliant, meeting hygiene standards for equipment that contacts food directly. CasterHQ stocks stainless casters specifically designed for compliance with food safety regulations.
304 stainless is the industry standard for food and pharmaceutical applications because it balances corrosion resistance, cost, and machinability. 316 stainless (higher molybdenum content) resists pitting in saltwater environments better but costs 20-30% more. Passivation is the critical process that removes free iron from the surface, preventing rust and staining. CasterHQ specifies passivated 304 stainless for all food-service casters, exceeding basic stainless specifications to guarantee performance.
