All measurements indicate the wheel diameter by the tread width.
The below capacity ranges indicate the working (dynamic) load that each caster will support. A safety factor should be included in your formula to determine your required load rating per caster.
W/(C-1)=R W is total weight needed to move. C is total number of casters required. R is ideal load rating, with safety factor built in. Divide the total load weight by one less caster than you will use to safely determine load rating.
Plate dimensions shown are overall mounting plate size.
When replacing existing casters, select the closest plate size and verify bolt-hole compatibility.
BHP = Bolt Hole Pattern, shown under each plate.
Heavy duty casters support up to 17,500 lbs per caster and are engineered for the toughest industrial applications. CasterHQ stocks heavy duty casters in polyurethane, phenolic, forged steel, and V-groove wheels from 6" to 16" — available with extra-heavy plate and kingpinless mounts designed for continuous duty in steel mills, foundries, and heavy towing. Most ship same day from our network of over $100 million in U.S. warehouse inventory.
Heavy duty casters excel in extreme industrial environments where equipment must move extreme loads over extended distances without failure. Forged steel wheels are ideal for foundries, steel mills, and heavy machinery because they withstand heat, metal debris, and extreme impact without cracking. V-groove wheels provide precision tracking for rail systems. Phenolic wheels offer the best balance of load capacity and floor protection when heat is less critical. CasterHQ stocks heavy duty casters pre-assembled on extra-heavy plates for direct installation on heavy presses and molding equipment.
Forged steel wheels are the ultimate choice for maximum load capacity and durability in the harshest environments. Steel resists heat, abrasion, and chemical attack better than any other material and never cracks under impact. Phenolic wheels are a cost-effective alternative, handling loads up to 17,500 lbs with excellent traction and reduced floor damage. Polyurethane on heavy iron is preferred where some floor protection matters. For precision machinery needing directional control, V-groove steel wheels track perfectly on rail systems. CasterHQ engineers recommend steel for foundries and phenolic for general heavy manufacturing.
