All measurements indicate the wheel diameter by the tread width.
The below capacity ranges indicate the working (dynamic) load that each caster will support. A safety factor should be included in your formula to determine your required load rating per caster.
W/(C-1)=R W is total weight needed to move. C is total number of casters required. R is ideal load rating, with safety factor built in. Divide the total load weight by one less caster than you will use to safely determine load rating.
Plate dimensions shown are overall mounting plate size.
When replacing existing casters, select the closest plate size and verify bolt-hole compatibility.
BHP = Bolt Hole Pattern, shown under each plate.
Universal-fit 5" replacement wheels and caster assemblies for grocery carts, retail carts, and warehouse push carts. Fits most major brands including Unarco, Technibilt, and Versacart. In stock and ready to ship.
Most grocery and retail carts use a 5" diameter universal wheel. Measure your current wheel's diameter and tread width to confirm before ordering.
The vast majority of standard shopping carts — including Unarco, Technibilt, and Versacart — use a 5" x 1-1/4" wheel on a universal swivel plate. Measure your existing wheel: diameter (typically 5"), tread width, and bore size. CasterHQ's universal-fit wheels and assemblies replace the most common configurations without modification.
Replace just the wheel if the swivel fork spins smoothly. Replace the full assembly if the caster wobbles, grinds, or doesn't swivel properly.
A worn wheel that still spins true on a healthy fork only needs a wheel swap. But if the ball bearings are grinding, corroded, or the fork is bent, replacing just the wheel won't fix the steering problem. Full assembly replacement restores like-new swivel action and is still a straightforward bolt-on swap.
Remove the 4 mounting bolts on the 2" x 2-5/8" plate pattern, swap in the new assembly, and tighten. The whole job takes under 5 minutes.
Most shopping cart casters use a 2" x 2-5/8" bolt pattern on a 1/4" thick plate. You'll need a 3/8" wrench or socket. For wheel-only replacement: drive out the axle pin with a punch and hammer, remove the worn wheel from the fork, slide in the new wheel, and reinstall the axle pin.
Quality replacement wheels last 2–5 years under normal retail use. Replace immediately when wheels squeak, wobble, lock up, or flat-spot.
Warning signs for immediate replacement: audible squeaking or grinding, visible flat spots, wheels that lock and won't roll freely, or casters that won't swivel. Proactive replacement prevents damage to cart frames and store flooring.
Step 1: Count failed casters per cart. Step 2: Test swivel fork — if it spins freely, wheel-only swap; if it grinds or wobbles, full assembly. Step 3: Confirm 5" diameter and universal plate. Step 4: Order quantity = (carts × casters per cart) + 10% spare stock.
