All measurements indicate the wheel diameter by the tread width.
The below capacity ranges indicate the working (dynamic) load that each caster will support. A safety factor should be included in your formula to determine your required load rating per caster.
W/(C-1)=R W is total weight needed to move. C is total number of casters required. R is ideal load rating, with safety factor built in. Divide the total load weight by one less caster than you will use to safely determine load rating.
Plate dimensions shown are overall mounting plate size.
When replacing existing casters, select the closest plate size and verify bolt-hole compatibility.
BHP = Bolt Hole Pattern, shown under each plate.

Casters and wheels rated for continuous oven, bakery, foundry, and heat-treat environments. CasterHQ stocks phenolic (525F continuous), forged steel (800F continuous), cast iron (600F continuous), and high-temp specialty wheels for oven racks, bakery proofing carts, paint-bake ovens, sterilizers, and heat-treat baskets up to 1,200F.
High-temp casters and wheels are mobility components engineered for continuous service at elevated temperatures from 350F (paint-bake oven) through 1,200F+ (foundry transfer carts). Material families include phenolic (525F continuous, FDA-compliant for bakery), cast iron with high-temp grease (600F continuous), forged steel with high-temp grease (800F continuous, 1,200F intermittent), and all-steel wheels with dry-running bushings (1,200F+ continuous). High-temp lubrication or dry-running bushings are mandatory above 350F.
Material temperature ratings: phenolic 525F continuous, cast iron with high-temp grease 600F continuous, forged steel with high-temp grease 800F continuous, all-steel with dry bushings 1,200F+ continuous.
The wheel material temperature rating is only one factor — bearing and lubricant rating is equally critical. A high-temp wheel with standard grease will fail at the bearing within hours. Always spec the lubricant and bearing system to match the wheel's temperature rating.
Phenolic 5-6" wheels with high-temp ball bearings or sleeve bearings. Phenolic handles continuous 525F, won't soften, doesn't off-gas, and resists oil and flour buildup.
For bakery wash-down compliance, spec stainless yokes with phenolic wheels. The combination handles continuous 525F oven cycles, daily wash-down with hot water and chemical sanitizers, and food-contact regulatory compliance.
Phenolic at 525F covers most paint-bake (typically 350-450F cure). For powder-coat ovens running 400-475F, phenolic is the standard spec.
For high-temp specialty paints requiring 500-600F cure, spec forged steel or cast iron with high-temp lubricant. For above 600F cure cycles, spec all-steel wheels with dry-running bushings. Avoid any rubber or plastic components in oven environments.
Forged steel wheels with high-temp grease handle 800F continuous. With dry-running bushings handle 1,200F. Above 1,200F spec custom ceramic-bearing or oil-mist lubrication systems.
Most foundry transfer carts use 6-8" forged steel wheels with cast steel yokes and high-temp grease. For above 1,200F or continuous extreme heat, submit RFQ to info@casterhq.com — engineering team coordinates ceramic-bearing and oil-mist lubrication system specs direct from manufacturer.
| Material | Continuous Temp | Bearing Type | Best Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phenolic | 525F | High-Temp Ball or Sleeve | Bakery, paint-bake, sterilizer |
| Cast Iron | 600F | High-Temp Grease | Heat-treat, oven racks |
| Forged Steel | 800F | High-Temp Grease | Foundry, forge carts |
| All-Steel Dry Bushing | 1,200F | Dry Bushing | Furnace, kiln equipment |
| Stainless + Phenolic | 525F | High-Temp Ball | Pharma sterilizer, food bake |
"The #1 high-temp caster failure we see is engineers spec'ing the right wheel material but defaulting to standard caster grease. Standard grease melts at 250-300F. The wheel survives but the bearing seizes within hours. Always specify 'high-temp grease' or 'dry-running bushings' on the PO — adds zero cost, prevents 100% of bearing failures."
No. Phenolic wheels are food-contact safe (FDA 21 CFR 175.300) and don't off-gas at continuous 525F. Used widely in commercial bakery proofing, baking, rack-oven applications.
In continuous high-temp service with proper lubrication: 2-5 years for phenolic, 5-10 years for forged steel. Without proper lubricant: 30-90 days.
Yes. 304/316 stainless yoke + phenolic wheel + high-temp ball bearings. Rated for autoclave (250F steam) and pharma dry-heat sterilizers up to 400F.
Yes. Custom diameters, plate sizes, ceramic bearings for above 1,200F, oil-mist lubrication systems available. Lead time 4-8 weeks.
Yes. Phenolic, cast iron, and forged steel work fine at room temperature. The high-temp rating is the maximum, not minimum.
