OVEN RACK • BAKERY RACK • PAN DOLLY • PROOFER CART

High temperature casters engineered for bakery racks, oven racks, pan dollies, and proofing carts operating in elevated heat. These are specified when standard wheels fail from thermal softening, flat-spotting, or bearing seizure during repeated bake cycles.

Heatwave™ 500°F casters (Made in USA): glass-filled polymer wheels with wave-designed webbing intended to improve heat dissipation for high-temperature cycling (model dependent).

Typical High-Temperature Performance Range

  • Temperature capability: up to 450°F standard options; up to 500°F Heatwave series (model dependent)
  • Wheel materials: high-temp phenolic · solid polyurethane · steel · glass-filled polymer (Heatwave)
  • Bearing options: bronze bushings or heat-tolerant bearing systems (varies by product)
  • Mounting: plate mount (most common for bakery/oven racks)

Selection Guidance

What fails first in bakery & oven rack caster systems
Common failure modes include wheel softening or deformation, flat-spotting during cooling, and bearing seizure when lubricants break down. High-temperature casters are designed to preserve rolling performance through repeated bake cycles.
When to choose Heatwave 500°F
Choose Heatwave when you need higher thermal headroom, frequent oven cycling, or improved heat dissipation characteristics. For wash-down or corrosion exposure, choose stainless.
When you need a brake
If racks must hold position during loading/unloading, choose a configuration with a brake. If you don’t see a brake on the product page, contact us and we’ll match a compatible brake option.

From Our Engineers: High-Temp Caster Tips

  • Grease failure is the #1 issue: Standard bearing grease breaks down above 250°F. We use high-temp synthetic grease rated to 500°F on all our oven rack casters — re-greasing every 6 months extends caster life by 2–3x in commercial bakery environments.
  • Phenolic vs. glass-filled nylon: Phenolic wheels handle temps up to 300°F and are the most cost-effective. For rack ovens running 400–500°F, glass-filled nylon (like our Heatwave™ line) is the only wheel material we recommend.
  • Floor protection: High-temp phenolic wheels can mark epoxy-coated bakery floors. If floor marking is a concern, we recommend our high-temp nylon options which are non-marking.
  • Replacement sizing: 90% of commercial bakery racks use the 3-1/8″ x 4-1/8″ plate pattern. Measure your existing plate bolt-hole spacing before ordering — our team can cross-reference any OEM rack brand.

FAQ

What temperature are bakery and oven rack casters rated for?
Many standard high-temperature options are rated up to 450°F. Heatwave series casters are rated up to 500°F (model dependent).
How do I confirm fitment for a 4" bakery rack caster replacement?
Confirm your existing caster’s top plate size and bolt-hole spacing. Heatwave 4" models use a 4 1/8" × 3 1/8" plate—verify compatibility before ordering.
What is the Heatwave wheel made of?
Heatwave uses a glass-filled polymer wheel with wave-designed webbing intended to improve heat dissipation for high-temperature cycling.
