W/(C-1)=R W is total weight needed to move. C is total number of casters required. R is ideal load rating, with safety factor built in. Divide the total load weight by one less caster than you will use to safely determine load rating.

Match a 4-1/2 x 6 top plate when bolting casters under heavy warehouse carts, die carts, and plant fixtures. Catalog chips cover wheel diameters 6 in and capacities 1,000 to 2,000 lb. For dual-wheel or wide treads, check fork clearance and swivel radius in tight aisles. Larger plates spread bolt stress on thick frames under continuous tow abuse. Confirm stem length and thread pitch on stem mounts so the shoulder seats flush in the boss.
