All measurements indicate the wheel diameter by the tread width.
The below capacity ranges indicate the working (dynamic) load that each caster will support. A safety factor should be included in your formula to determine your required load rating per caster.
W/(C-1)=R W is total weight needed to move. C is total number of casters required. R is ideal load rating, with safety factor built in. Divide the total load weight by one less caster than you will use to safely determine load rating.
Plate dimensions shown are overall mounting plate size.
When replacing existing casters, select the closest plate size and verify bolt-hole compatibility.
BHP = Bolt Hole Pattern, shown under each plate.

Institutional casters serve schools, universities, cafeterias, and public facilities, moving folding tables, mobile seating, AV carts, and food-service equipment through high-traffic buildings. The spec favors quiet non-marking rolling, tamper-resistant durability, and easy maintenance on a facilities budget. Most equipment uses light to medium-duty casters; cafeteria and food areas add NSF-grade and stainless options. CasterHQ stocks Shepherd institutional, Colson, and food-service casters, priced and shipping same day.

Facilities budgets punish the wrong first choice, because a caster that fails on a folding table gets replaced by whoever is closest with whatever is in the drawer, and then nothing matches. We standardize schools on one or two institutional series across their mobile tables and carts so replacements are predictable and staff are not guessing at stem sizes.

Our team specs institutional & education casters by load per caster, floor and environment, mount, and any compliance the application demands, then confirms fit before you order. We stock the range for same-day shipping from Mansfield, Texas, so replacements do not stall your equipment.
Non-marking medium-duty casters around 4 to 5 in handle folding and mobile tables, rolling quietly on gym and cafeteria floors while resisting daily high-traffic use.
Yes. Non-marking poly tread lowers noise in corridors and shared spaces and protects finished floors, which reduces maintenance and complaints.
Food-service and serving equipment should use NSF-grade non-marking tread and corrosion-resistant hardware to support sanitation. Stainless is the step up for wet cleaning.
Institutional casters like the Shepherd Regent line are light-duty, USA-made casters built for quiet, reliable service on furniture and equipment in public buildings.
Yes. We help standardize on one or two series so replacements are consistent and stem, plate, and capacity choices stay predictable for facilities staff.
