All measurements indicate the wheel diameter by the tread width.
The below capacity ranges indicate the working (dynamic) load that each caster will support. A safety factor should be included in your formula to determine your required load rating per caster.
W/(C-1)=R W is total weight needed to move. C is total number of casters required. R is ideal load rating, with safety factor built in. Divide the total load weight by one less caster than you will use to safely determine load rating.
Plate dimensions shown are overall mounting plate size.
When replacing existing casters, select the closest plate size and verify bolt-hole compatibility.
BHP = Bolt Hole Pattern, shown under each plate.

Hamilton Caster & Mfg. Co. has been engineering casters in Hamilton, Ohio since 1907 — the original American heavy-duty caster brand. Forged steel rigs, sealed precision bearings, capacity ratings up to 40,000 lb per caster. CasterHQ stocks 5,243 Hamilton SKUs across casters, replacement wheels, axles, bushings, and rebuild parts.
Hamilton uses forged steel rigs (not stamped) for shock load resistance, sealed precision tapered roller bearings (not loose ball) for chemical-environment service life, and bonded poly + cast iron + forged steel wheel options that handle continuous-duty industrial service. Aerospace ground support equipment, foundry transfer carts, military depot loaders, and Tier-1 OEM assembly fixtures all spec Hamilton because the failure modes are predictable and the rebuild parts are stocked for decades.
S-series = Swivel casters. R-series = Rigid casters. W-series = Wheels only (replacement). H-series = Specialty / heavy-duty configurations. Within each series, the next number indicates the wheel diameter (e.g., S-7012-PRB is a swivel caster with 12" wheel, pneumatic, roller bearing). The trailing letters describe wheel material and bearing type.
Hamilton Caster builds most products to order in their Hamilton, Ohio plant — they don't carry massive finished-goods inventory like volume distributors. The trade-off: every Hamilton caster comes with traceable lot/serial info, custom configurations are available (special wheel durometers, conductive compounds, food-grade options), and rebuild parts are always available. For most industrial buyers, the 2-3 week lead is acceptable because the caster lasts 5-10x longer than commodity alternatives.
Hamilton W-720, W-820, W-920 series cross to RWM Aluma-Tuf and Albion 16-Series for forged steel wheels. Hamilton S-SEC kingpinless casters cross to Albion's 110-series. Hamilton Cush-N-Aire pneumatic series crosses to RWM Pneumatic. CasterHQ engineering can cross any Hamilton part number — submit RFQ with the Hamilton model and we'll match to in-stock equivalents or sourced Hamilton.
| Series | Type | Capacity Range | Best Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| S-Series Swivel | Plate or kingpinless | up to 6,000 lb | General industrial mobility |
| R-Series Rigid | Plate mount | up to 6,000 lb | Linear motion equipment |
| W-Series Wheels Only | Replacement | up to 30,000 lb | Wheel-only replacement on existing rigs |
| Cush-N-Aire Pneumatic | Air-filled | up to 600 lb | Outdoor / shock-load / rough surface |
| SEC Kingpinless | Heavy duty | up to 16,000 lb | Towline + manual heavy industrial |
For aerospace ground support and military depot equipment, spec Hamilton SEC kingpinless with sealed precision tapered roller bearings — they're the only configuration rated for continuous towline service at 5+ mph with no service interval for 10+ years. The 12-15% premium over standard kingpinless pays back inside year one in eliminated maintenance.
Custom durometer, hub material, plate spec, or non-standard size — engineering team turns RFQs same day.
For continuous-duty industrial service: yes. Hamilton typically lasts 5-10x longer than commodity casters under same conditions due to forged steel construction + sealed precision bearings. Total cost of ownership over 5 years is significantly lower despite the 2-3 week lead. For one-time replacement on light/medium duty equipment, faster brands (Albion, Colson) are often the better trade.
Yes — submit RFQ. Hamilton offers conductive polyurethane (10^4 to 10^6 ohm surface resistance) for ESD-sensitive areas, FDA-compliant compounds for food/pharma, and clean-room-rated sealed bearings. These are typically 4-6 week lead and require engineering specification of the exact conductivity / cleanliness target.
Provide the Hamilton caster part number (S-XXXX or R-XXXX format) — we cross to the matching W-series wheel. If you don't have the original part number, photograph the wheel side-by-side with a tape measure showing diameter + tread width + bore, plus the rig stamp if visible. Our engineering team crosses to the exact W-series replacement.
Standard 1-year manufacturer warranty against defects. Premium series (SEC kingpinless, Cush-N-Aire pneumatic) carry 2-year warranty when paired with sealed precision bearings. All warranty claims handled through Hamilton's authorized distributor network — CasterHQ processes warranty replacements directly with Hamilton.
Yes — Hamilton's Hamilton, OH plant builds custom configurations regularly. Common custom specs: non-standard plate sizes, specific durometer polyurethane, conductive wheel compounds, color-coded ESD wheels, food-grade FDA wheels, marine-grade stainless rigs. Custom lead time is typically 4-6 weeks. Submit RFQ with your spec sheet to engineering.
