KNAPP AG said it has delivered a smart pallet handling automation solution at Cummins’ manufacturing site in Lindesberg, Sweden. The press release is dated Sept. 15, 2026. The plant covers 55,000 m² (592,015 ft²). Cummins produces front and rear drive axles for the trucking industry there.

A fleet of 15 Open Shuttle Fork autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) moves pallets inside the warehouse and processes up to 2,000 transport orders each day. The robots serve goods-in, high-bay pallet racking, an automated small-parts warehouse, and the picking area. They also return empty pallets. Pallets at picking are set at one of three heights, on stands or on the floor, for ergonomics. KNAPP says the AMRs were integrated without building construction.

Those AMR chassis run on industrial wheels and often on keyed drive wheels or other AGV-rated casters and wheels specified for continuous plant duty. A quote for robotics casters or material handling casters is not a claim that CasterHQ supplied Lindesberg or that any Open Shuttle Fork load rating was verified here.

Storage is automated on both the pallet and small-parts sides. The high-bay pallet AS/RS uses a stacker crane across 2 aisles, double deep, 5 levels, and 2,238 storage locations. The automated small-parts warehouse uses a stacker crane on 1 aisle, 19 levels, and 7,920 or 15,840 locations depending on container size. Conveyors cover pallet goods-in and high-bay flow plus putaway into the small-parts warehouse.

Software is KiSoft One with an interface to Cummins’ MES/host, KiSoft FCS for fleet control of the Open Shuttle Fork units, and KiSoft SCADA for warehouse visualization. What this means for caster and wheel buyers

  • On an AMR or Open Shuttle-class RFQ, require the OEM’s published load rating, duty cycle, and wheel or drive-hub drawing before quoting tread compound or keyed hubs; this desk did not open those Open Shuttle Fork specs.
  • Treat the 15-unit fleet and 2,000 orders/day figures as duty-cycle context for continuous warehouse rolling, not as a CasterHQ capacity claim.
  • Separate pallet-AMR wheel SKUs from cart and manual pallet-jack casters on the quote so three-height pick stands and floor drops do not share one vague “warehouse wheel” line.
  • When AS/RS and conveyor interfaces are in scope, ask which loads stay on AMR wheels versus fixed conveyor and racking so spare-parts stocking matches the live flow.
  • Do not treat a Sweden axle plant as a Texas sales alert; use the numbers only if the same KNAPP architecture appears on a North American bid.
