The below capacity ranges indicate the working (dynamic) load that each caster will support. A safety factor should be included in your formula to determine your required load rating per caster.

W/(C-1)=R W is total weight needed to move. C is total number of casters required. R is ideal load rating, with safety factor built in. Divide the total load weight by one less caster than you will use to safely determine load rating.

Plate dimensions shown are overall mounting plate size.
When replacing existing casters, select the closest plate size and verify bolt-hole compatibility.

Measuring the stem

A 1/4-20 stem is 1/4 in in diameter with 20 threads per inch. These stems are 5/8 in long. Thread the old caster out and check both numbers; a 5/16 or 3/8 in stem will not fit, and a longer stem may bottom out in a shallow insert [S1].

Floor fit

The twin nylon wheels share the load and swivel easily, which makes them a good match for carpet. Shepherd's own listing warns that the hard nylon can leave marks on hardwood or tile without a chair mat [S1].
