The below capacity ranges indicate the working (dynamic) load that each caster will support. A safety factor should be included in your formula to determine your required load rating per caster.

W/(C-1)=R W is total weight needed to move. C is total number of casters required. R is ideal load rating, with safety factor built in. Divide the total load weight by one less caster than you will use to safely determine load rating.

The four polyurethane casters here come from Hamilton with 6 in wheels, rated 1,600 to 2,200 lb each. Most use a 5 x 7 in top plate, with 4-1/2 x 6-1/2 in also offered, in both swivel and rigid, and none has a brake. Examples include a Hamilton R-FM-6DB 6 x 2 1/2 in Duralast rigid caster rated 1,600 lb and a Hamilton S-FM-63DB 6 x 3 in Duralast swivel caster rated 2,200 lb.
