The below capacity ranges indicate the working (dynamic) load that each caster will support. A safety factor should be included in your formula to determine your required load rating per caster.

W/(C-1)=R W is total weight needed to move. C is total number of casters required. R is ideal load rating, with safety factor built in. Divide the total load weight by one less caster than you will use to safely determine load rating.

The four cast iron casters here come from Hamilton with 6 in wheels, rated 2,200 to 2,500 lb each. The top plate is 5-1/4 x 7-1/4 in on all of them, in both swivel and rigid, and none has a brake. Two examples are a Hamilton 6 x 2-1/2 in metal swivel caster rated 2,200 lb and a Hamilton 6 x 3 in metal swivel caster rated 2,500 lb. Most are rated up to 800°F.
