W/(C-1)=R W is total weight needed to move. C is total number of casters required. R is ideal load rating, with safety factor built in. Divide the total load weight by one less caster than you will use to safely determine load rating.

Casters on the 4-1/2 x 6-1/2 plate pattern suit heavy warehouse carts, die carts, and plant fixtures. Typical builds show wheel diameters 8 in and capacities 1,200 to 2,400 lb. Replace worn corners in matched sets when possible so the cart tracks straight under load. Larger plates spread bolt stress on thick frames under continuous tow abuse. When floors see chemicals or washdowns, prefer sealed bearings and non-absorbent wheel compounds.
