Choosing dual wheel casters

  1. Load: plan on three casters carrying a four-caster cart [S2]; at 10,000 lb each, a common rating here, that is about 30,000 lb, and the 40,000 lb top rating covers about 120,000 lb.
  2. Mount: most dual wheel casters use a 14 x 14 in top plate; 8-1/2 x 8-1/2 in and 6-1/4 x 6-1/2 in plates are listed too; match the bolt holes on your frame to the plate before ordering.
  3. Floor: on dual wheel casters, polyurethane is kinder to tile and finished floors; nylon, phenolic, steel and cast iron roll easier under heavy loads on smooth concrete.
  4. Rig: rigid and swivel dual wheel casters are listed.
  5. Heat: among dual wheel casters, the highest listed range is -40°F to 320°F on steel; check the temperature field on each listing before oven or hot-room use.
