All measurements indicate the wheel diameter by the tread width.
The below capacity ranges indicate the working (dynamic) load that each caster will support. A safety factor should be included in your formula to determine your required load rating per caster.
W/(C-1)=R W is total weight needed to move. C is total number of casters required. R is ideal load rating, with safety factor built in. Divide the total load weight by one less caster than you will use to safely determine load rating.
Plate dimensions shown are overall mounting plate size.
When replacing existing casters, select the closest plate size and verify bolt-hole compatibility.
BHP = Bolt Hole Pattern, shown under each plate.

Most casters are rated for walking-pace movement. Speed-rated casters are engineered for powered travel — tugger trains, AGVs, tow lines running well above walking pace — where heat build-up, bearing stress, and tread fatigue would destroy a standard caster. The range spans 1,400 to 34,000 lb per caster.

At powered travel speeds, a caster faces problems that don't exist at walking pace. The wheel generates heat from flexing — enough to soften standard polyurethane. The bearings run hotter and faster. The tread fatigues from rapid load cycling. A speed-rated caster is engineered for all three: heat-stable compounds, bearings rated for the RPM, and tread construction that survives sustained fast rolling. Hamilton's TerraTech press-on tires and Spinfinity ZFSEC2 platform are built for exactly this.
Speed-rated casters carry a maximum-speed spec alongside the load rating. Tugger trains, AGV fleets, and powered tow lines all have a top speed — the caster's speed rating has to meet or exceed it under the actual load. The range from 1,400 to 34,000 lb means speed-rated covers light AGV carts through heavy powered transfer.
Heat-stable wheel compounds, bearings rated for the RPM, and tread construction that survives sustained fast rolling. Standard casters overheat and fatigue at powered speeds.
If it runs above walking pace, yes — standard casters build up heat and fail. Match the caster's speed rating to the tugger's top speed.
