SUPER CUSHION RUBBER - 6" thru 8" wheels - up to 450 lbs

Engineer-Reviewed

Super Cushion Rubber Casters

6″–8″ Wheels · Up to 450 lbs · Maximum Floor Protection

Super cushion rubber casters are built for heavy loads that still demand zero floor damage. The extra-thick rubber compound absorbs shock, eliminates vibration, and rolls quietly over concrete, tile, and hardwood — without leaving a mark. Ideal for medical equipment, hospitality carts, and industrial use where both load capacity and floor care matter.

What Makes Super Cushion Rubber Different from Standard Rubber?

Standard rubber caster wheels use a single layer of compounded rubber bonded to a core. Super cushion rubber adds extra material thickness — typically 30–50% more tread depth — which dramatically improves shock absorption and load distribution. The result is a caster that rolls more smoothly over gaps, drain covers, and surface transitions while applying less point pressure to floors. This makes them the go-to choice when you're carrying 300–450 lbs and can't afford to scratch floors or jar equipment.

What Floors Are Super Cushion Rubber Casters Safe On?

Super cushion rubber is non-marking and floor-safe on hardwood, tile, polished concrete, vinyl plank, epoxy coatings, and linoleum. The soft compound deforms slightly under load, spreading contact pressure and eliminating the point loading that causes scratches and gouging. They perform well even on freshly finished floors common in hotel ballrooms, hospital corridors, and restaurant kitchens. Always verify the caster is free of embedded debris before rolling on sensitive surfaces.

How Much Weight Can Super Cushion Rubber Casters Handle?

Our super cushion rubber casters are rated up to 450 lbs per caster. For equipment supported by four casters, that's a combined rolling capacity of 1,800 lbs. Always calculate using 75% of the four-caster total to account for uneven load distribution and dynamic forces during movement — so plan for equipment under 1,350 lbs gross weight. For heavier loads, consider our cast iron or supreme rubber on aluminum alternatives.

Do Super Cushion Rubber Casters Work on Uneven or Rough Surfaces?

Yes — the larger wheel diameter (6″–8″) combined with the extra-thick rubber tread makes super cushion casters exceptionally good at rolling over surface irregularities. They bridge small gaps, absorb vibration from expansion joints and floor seams, and transition between surface types without jarring. This makes them common on IV poles, heavy laundry carts, and catering equipment that moves through multiple floor zones.

What Mounting Options Are Available for Super Cushion Rubber Casters?

Super cushion rubber casters are available with both swivel and rigid configurations, and with plate or stem mounts. Plate-mount swivel casters suit most cart applications. Stem mounts (round, threaded, and grip ring) work well for lighter equipment with pre-drilled mounting holes. Brake options include total-lock brakes for stationary positioning and directional locks for parking with steering capability. Contact our engineering team if you need a specific stem size or plate configuration not shown.

Load Capacity Formula
Equipment Weight ÷ Number of Casters = Per-Caster Load Add 25% Safety Buffer

Example: 900 lb cart on 4 casters = 225 lbs each. Add 25% → select casters rated 285 lbs+. Super cushion at 450 lbs gives you ample margin.

⚙ Engineer Tip

For equipment that sits stationary most of the time but moves occasionally, add a total-lock brake to at least two of your super cushion casters. The soft rubber tread grips the floor well, but a locked caster prevents the slow drift that happens when heavy loads are on sloped floors or in rooms with HVAC airflow.

Super Cushion Rubber Caster FAQs

Are super cushion rubber casters suitable for medical or healthcare environments?
Yes. The non-marking, non-conductive rubber compound and quiet rolling make them standard in hospitals, clinics, and care facilities. Pair them with a swivel lock for IV poles or crash carts that need to stay in place.
Will super cushion rubber casters leave residue or stains on floors?
No — our super cushion rubber uses a gray or black non-marking compound that does not transfer pigment to floors. Avoid petroleum-based cleaners on rubber wheels as they can cause surface degradation over time.
Can these casters handle outdoor or wet environments?
Super cushion rubber handles occasional moisture well but is not rated for continuous outdoor exposure or chemical splash environments. For outdoor use, consider our pneumatic or polyurethane options instead.
What is the difference between swivel and rigid super cushion casters?
Swivel casters rotate 360° and allow steering from any direction. Rigid casters roll in a straight line only. Most applications use two swivel and two rigid casters — swivel at the push end, rigid at the lead end — to balance maneuverability with directional stability.
How do I measure the existing caster to find the right replacement?
Measure wheel diameter from ground to top of wheel, wheel width at the tread, and the mount type (plate dimensions or stem diameter and length). Our team can cross-reference your current part number if you're replacing a competitor's caster.
