All measurements indicate the wheel diameter by the tread width.

The below capacity ranges indicate the working (dynamic) load that each caster will support. A safety factor should be included in your formula to determine your required load rating per caster.

W/(C-1)=R W is total weight needed to move. C is total number of casters required. R is ideal load rating, with safety factor built in. Divide the total load weight by one less caster than you will use to safely determine load rating.

Plate dimensions shown are overall mounting plate size.
When replacing existing casters, select the closest plate size and verify bolt-hole compatibility.

Light-duty plate casters with all-steel wheels, in 2, 2-1/2, 3 and 4 in sizes, four swivel and four rigid. The 2 x 1 in casters are rated 125 lb, the 2-1/2 and 3 in 200 to 250 lb, and the 4 x 1-1/4 in 300 lb. Steel takes chips, oil and hot parts without damage. It is loud, gives no cushion and can mark finished floors, and none of these has a brake.

Where small steel casters earn their place

  • Machine shop carts and parts bins that sit in chips and coolant.
  • Welding tables and fixtures where spatter would burn a plastic wheel.
  • Low dollies on rough concrete where a soft tread would cut.

Where they do not

  • Finished, coated or tile floors: steel marks and scratches. Use TPR or polyurethane.
  • Quiet rooms: steel is the loudest wheel option.
  • Anything that needs to stay put: none of these has a brake.

Heavier metal wheels: metal wheels.

How much can these small steel casters hold?

From 125 lb on the 2 in casters to 300 lb on the 4 in casters.

Will steel casters damage my floor?

They can mark or scratch finished floors. They are best on bare industrial concrete.

Do any of them have brakes?

No. All eight are swivel or rigid without a brake.

Why choose steel over plastic wheels?

Steel shrugs off metal chips, oil and hot parts that would cut or melt a plastic wheel.
