Colson Group Buys Custom Engineered Wheels, Adding U.S. and Mexico Wheel Capacity

SAINT JOSEPH, Mich. — Colson Group announced on July 14, 2026, that it has acquired Custom Engineered Wheels (CEW), a manufacturer of engineered wheels and injection-molded components. Outside counsel later described the deal as a completed acquisition, giving industrial buyers a clearer signal that the expansion of Colson’s North American wheel-making footprint is not merely a letter of intent.

According to Colson’s PR Newswire release, CEW adds molding capacity for outdoor wheels in Baldwyn, Mississippi, and foamed-polyurethane and assembly capability at a maquiladora in Reynosa, Mexico. Colson said the wider footprint increases manufacturing flexibility, supports regional production strategies, and is intended to improve speed, scale, and operational efficiency for customers.

What CEW brings, per Colson

Colson describes CEW as supplying engineered components to OEM customers in lawn and garden, medical, and industrial applications, and says the business supports more than 950 unique products. Those figures are company statements. CasterHQ has not independently audited CEW’s product count, site headcount, or square footage.

Independent corroboration

On August 12, 2026, Dorsey & Whitney LLP stated that it represented Colson Group in its acquisition of Custom Engineered Wheels. Dorsey’s note describes the structure as an asset purchase for the U.S. operations of Custom Engineered Wheels, Inc., and an equity purchase for Mexican operations involving Custom Engineered Wheels, Inc. and CEW MX Holdings, LLC.

Dorsey also characterized the deal as Colson’s second acquisition in the past two years and its third in the past three years. That chronology comes from the law firm’s release; this article does not name the prior deals because those transactions were not verified for this packet.

What this means for industrial buyers

For plant, OEM, and MRO teams that already specify Colson Group casters and wheels, the practical questions are capacity, custom engineered-wheel options, and lead-time stability—not marketing language about “global leadership.” Foam polyurethane capability and additional molding/assembly sites can matter when buyers need outdoor wheels, custom diameters or treads, or regional production for continuity.

What is not yet public in the sources reviewed for this article: purchase price, site headcount, catalog SKU migrations, distributor lead-time guarantees, or customer transition notices. Treat any near-term promise of faster deliveries or lower prices as unverified unless Colson or a channel partner publishes it.
