A pallet truck is the walk-behind machine that slides forks under a pallet and lifts it a few inches so a person can roll it down an aisle. Most of those trucks still run on a 24-volt battery pack. On Sept. 1, 2026, Exide Technologies said it added a 24-volt lithium-ion pack to its Solition Material Handling line for that job. This is not a new forklift. It is a battery announcement.
Exide said the pack is meant as an alternative to conventional EPzV or EPzS lead-acid batteries used in retail, logistics, and distribution. The company said the pack uses lithium iron phosphate chemistry, ships with an onboard charger for opportunity charging during a shift, and is designed as a plug-and-play retrofit for existing 24-volt fleets. Opportunity charging means plugging in during breaks instead of swapping a whole battery or parking the truck in a charge room for a long soak. That is the company’s description. This desk did not run a charge-cycle test.
Exide listed compatibility with pallet trucks from Linde, Jungheinrich, Still, Crown, and Logisnext. Treat that as a manufacturer claim until your dealer confirms the exact model and connector. The company also said the pack is designed and assembled in Europe and claimed more than 3,000 charge cycles under specified operating conditions. Those cycle numbers are Exide’s. They are not a CasterHQ warranty.
What this is not: a safety-standard change for walking trucks, and not a claim that any jack on CasterHQ’s shelf ships with this battery. What a buyer can do is ask the next quote whether a lithium 24-volt retrofit is available for the exact truck model already on the floor, and what charger and connector that quote includes.
What to do with this
Put the OEM model number on the next battery quote. Ask whether the pack is validated for that truck, whether the onboard charger is included, and what the stated cycle life assumes. Do not treat a press release as a fitment sheet.
