A goods-to-person system is a warehouse setup where machines bring shelves or totes of product to a worker at a station, instead of sending that worker walking aisle to aisle with a pick cart. The person still picks and packs. The travel is what the automation cuts. That is the system SHEIN says this new building uses — not a claim that the site is already running at peak holiday volume.
Who is SHEIN? SHEIN is a global online fashion and lifestyle retailer. On Sept. 10, 2026, the company said it celebrated the grand opening of a new 737,000-square-foot automated fulfillment warehouse in Lebanon, Indiana. The release came on PR Newswire the same day.
What is not true: a grand opening is not the same thing as full holiday capacity already proven on the floor. SHEIN’s own wording puts operations as scheduled to begin this month (September 2026). Treat the ribbon event as a public milestone and the start of ops as the material-handling clock — not as proof that every outbound lane is already at peak.
The Lebanon building expands SHEIN’s Indiana footprint to more than 2.5 million square feet, the company says. It sits about 1.5 miles from SHEIN’s existing Indiana operations. SHEIN first put a major Indiana distribution hub in Whitestown in 2022. The company says it now employs more than 1,300 Hoosiers and expects the Lebanon site to create hundreds of additional jobs as operations expand — those job figures are SHEIN’s statements, not an independent payroll audit.
George Chiao, SHEIN’s U.S. president, said the Indiana investment reflects a push for a more agile fulfillment network and local economic opportunity. That quote is from the Sept. 10 release.
