24 Series

This collection holds 24 Series casters with polyurethane, rubber and polyolefin wheels, built for light carts, racks, and stands. Casters in this collection range from 175 to 350 lb per caster. Wheels in this category range from 3 up to 6 inches in diameter with a 1-1/4 in tread width. The collection includes swivel and rigid models. Polyurethane (poly or urethane) treads are quiet, floor safe, and resist water and many chemicals. Rubber wheels are quiet, cushion the load, and protect floors. Polyolefin is light, low cost, and resists water and many chemicals. It is hard, so it is loud on rough floors. Soft rubber or TPR is the better pick when the floor has chips or grit. Common uses include food service, bakeries, hospitals, schools, laboratories, and material handling carts. Choose swivel casters when the cart must turn in place and rigid casters for straight travel. Polyurethane aisle: polyurethane casters. Wheel hub: replacement wheels.

Choosing Durastar 24 series casters

  1. Load: plan on three casters carrying a four-caster cart [S2]; Durastar 24 series casters rated 350 lb each then carry about 1,050 lb.
  2. Mount: most Durastar 24 series casters use a 2-3/8 x 3-5/8 in top plate; 3-1/8 x 4-1/8 in plates are listed too; check the bolt spacing on your frame against the plate size.
  3. Floor: on Durastar 24 series casters, rubber and polyurethane are kinder to tile and finished floors; phenolic, polyolefin, nylon and semi-steel roll easier under heavy loads on smooth concrete.
  4. Rig: swivel and rigid Durastar 24 series casters are listed.
  5. Heat: among Durastar 24 series casters, the highest listed range is -45°F to 800°F on semi-steel; check the temperature field on each listing before oven or hot-room use.
