What the LD series is

LD is the light-duty CasterHQ series: a zinc-plated steel rig with a heat treated ball bearing swivel raceway [S1]. The phenolic wheel is a hard molded resin, so it rolls with little effort and is not harmed by oil, grease or mild heat [S2].

Good fits

  • Shop carts, welding carts and parts carts on smooth concrete.
  • Light equipment that has to roll past warm machines, up to 250°F.
  • Carts that see oil or grease on the floor.

Watch for

  • Noise. Phenolic is hard and loud on rough floors.
  • Wet floors and washdown. Colson does not recommend phenolic where moisture is present [S3].
  • Floor debris. A hard wheel does not roll over chips and gravel well.
