EXPANDING RUBBER STEMS - 3" thru 5" - up to 350 lbs

Expanding Adapter Casters

Round rubber expansion stems for round or square tubing • 3"–5" wheels • ~300–350 lb capacity (model dependent)

What an expanding adapter caster does

Expanding rubber adapter casters lock into hollow legs / tubing by tightening an internal mechanism that expands a rubber sleeve against the inside wall. Result: a tight, rattle-resistant fit without threaded inserts, weld plates, or through-bolting.

  • Fast retrofit for equipment with open-ended tubular legs
  • Common on commercial prep tables, work tables, racks, and mobile fixtures
  • Good choice when you can’t access the inside of the leg for a nut/washer

Fit note
Match your tubing inside diameter (ID) to the adapter size
Expandable adapter sizes (click to expand)
Common adapter sizes offered in this category include: 3/4", 7/8", 1", 1-1/8", 1-3/16", 1-3/8", 1-1/2", 1-3/4" (select by tubing inside diameter).

Why round adapters are preferred (even for square tubing)

Round expansion sleeves generally apply force more evenly and tolerate minor ID variation better than square-style adapters. In square legs, the rubber expands to fill gaps and corners for a stable fit.

Selection notes for OEM/MRO buyers (click to expand)
  • Measure ID, not OD: the adapter indexes off the inside diameter of the tube/leg.
  • Check leg thickness: thin-wall tubing may need careful tightening to avoid distortion.
  • Load math: total load ÷ number of casters, then add a safety margin for shock/impact.
  • Floor & debris: larger wheels (when available) roll easier over grout lines and thresholds.
