All measurements indicate the wheel diameter by the tread width.

The below capacity ranges indicate the working (dynamic) load that each caster will support. A safety factor should be included in your formula to determine your required load rating per caster.

W/(C-1)=R W is total weight needed to move. C is total number of casters required. R is ideal load rating, with safety factor built in. Divide the total load weight by one less caster than you will use to safely determine load rating.

Plate dimensions shown are overall mounting plate size.
When replacing existing casters, select the closest plate size and verify bolt-hole compatibility.

Material Handling Equipment: Dollies, Hand Trucks, Pallet Jacks and More

This collection holds Material Handling Equipment casters with rubber, metal and TPR wheels, built for heavy equipment, dies, molds, and plant carts that move very heavy loads. Casters in this collection range from 300 to 22,000 lb per caster. Wheels in this category range from 1-1/2 up to 40 inches in diameter with 1 to 12 in tread widths. The collection includes swivel and brake models. Flanged and V groove track wheels ride on rail or angle iron track for straight line travel. Rubber wheels are quiet, cushion the load, and protect floors. Metal wheels roll with low effort and handle debris and heat. They are loud and can mark finished floors. Thermoplastic rubber (TPR) is quiet, will not mark floors, and rolls over chips and grit. Soft rubber or TPR is the better pick when the floor has chips or grit. Match the stem size and thread before you order. Rubber aisle: rubber casters. Wheel hub: replacement wheels.

Material Handling Equipment: buying guide

What is on this page

This page groups equipment for moving and storing goods, from CasterHQ, Quantum, B&P, Hudson Bearings, Safe 'N Secure and Mighty Lift [S1]. Picking equipment by load

  • Dollies: ratings are per dolly, the combined rating of the 4 casters. Keep the whole load under it and center it on the deck.
  • Hand trucks and carts: check the listed capacity of the frame and the wheels, and use the lower of the two.
  • Straps and hooks: work to the working load limit on the label, not the break strength.
  • Casters for your own equipment: divide the loaded weight by three for a four-caster base, so the load is still covered when one caster lifts on an uneven floor.
