The below capacity ranges indicate the working (dynamic) load that each caster will support. A safety factor should be included in your formula to determine your required load rating per caster.

W/(C-1)=R W is total weight needed to move. C is total number of casters required. R is ideal load rating, with safety factor built in. Divide the total load weight by one less caster than you will use to safely determine load rating.

Casters on the 2-3/8 x 3-5/8 plate pattern suit carts that must lock wheel and swivel together. Expect wheel diameters 4, 5 in, polyurethane and nylon treads, and capacities 350 to 4,400 lb. Use kingpinless or heavy plate series when shock loads keep shearing kingpin races. Larger plates spread bolt stress on thick frames under continuous tow abuse. Size capacity from the heaviest corner load with shock margin, and keep overall height consistent across the set.
