The below capacity ranges indicate the working (dynamic) load that each caster will support. A safety factor should be included in your formula to determine your required load rating per caster.

W/(C-1)=R W is total weight needed to move. C is total number of casters required. R is ideal load rating, with safety factor built in. Divide the total load weight by one less caster than you will use to safely determine load rating.

The two polyurethane casters here come from Hamilton with 10 in wheels, rated 5,000 lb each. The top plate is 6-1/2 x 7-1/2 in on all of them, in both swivel and rigid. Examples include a Hamilton 10 x 4 in UltraGlide swivel caster rated 5,000 lb and a Hamilton EPSD-104WF95 10 x 4 in UltraGlide rigid caster rated 5,000 lb.

The new UltraGlide 24/7 | AGV represents Hamilton’s latest modular wheel design to reduce the amount of energy needed to move loads in manual or powered applications.

The new UltraGlide series, like its twin-wheel predecessor, features independent swivel surfaces that eliminates scrubbing, making it much easier to turn. The wheel assembly also includes split outer raceways to minimize friction that provides low startup and maintain forces.
