This S40 Series caster pairs a kingpinless swivel raceway (built for impact and abuse) with the most commonly spec’d ergonomic polyurethane-on-aluminum wheel used across manufacturing, automotive, and plant environments where reduced push/pull force, quiet rolling, and long service life matter.
Kingpinless casters are preferred in heavy-duty plants because they eliminate the kingpin failure point. This improves resistance to shock loads, side impacts, and continuous abuse that can loosen or deform traditional kingpin swivel assemblies over time.
Polyurethane-on-aluminum is a widely used “workhorse” configuration for facilities that need industrial capacity without the noise and floor harshness of steel wheels. The donut tread profile is designed to keep rolling more consistently when floors are not perfectly clean.
Confirm your equipment’s bolt-hole pattern and required overall height before ordering. Choose bearing type based on duty cycle, speed, floor condition, and exposure (debris, washdown, chemicals). If you share your cart weight, load type, and floor conditions, we can recommend the best configuration.
It is the rated capacity per caster under proper load distribution and typical operating conditions. Total system capacity depends on how many casters are used and how evenly the load is carried.
Polyurethane wheels typically roll quieter and can reduce push/pull force while still handling heavy loads. Steel wheels can be loud and harsh on floors but may be preferred for extreme heat or certain chemical environments.
If your carts see impacts, rough floors, dock plates, thresholds, or continuous abuse, kingpinless is usually the more reliable long-term swivel design because it removes the kingpin as a failure point.

This 8" x 2" Polyurethane on Aluminum Swivel Kingpinless Caster – 2,000 lb is rated to 2000 lbs per caster. Size a set by dividing the total load by the number of casters, and for uneven floors assume 3 of 4 casters carry the load. Keep continuous-use loads within about 75-80% of the rating.
This caster runs a Polyurethane wheel with a 2" tread width. Polyurethane protects finished floors, rolls quietly, and resists most chemicals while carrying heavy loads.
This caster uses a top-plate mount. Measure your existing mounting holes before ordering; if you are replacing casters, match the bolt pattern - most standard patterns interchange across brands.
This is a Swivel caster. Swivel casters rotate 360 degrees for full maneuverability. For most mobile equipment we recommend 2 swivel + 2 rigid, or 4 swivel with at least 2 brakes.
Rated for -20°F to 180°F. Operating outside the rated range can reduce wheel life and load capacity, so match it to your environment (wash-down, freezer, oven-adjacent, etc.).
The Polyurethane wheel performs best on smooth to semi-smooth floors including sealed concrete, tile, and epoxy. For non-marking or clean-environment needs, ask us about matching tread options.
The overall height (floor to top of plate or stem) is 9-1/2". Account for it when checking equipment clearance, dock height, and ergonomic working height.
