All measurements indicate the wheel diameter by the tread width.
The below capacity ranges indicate the working (dynamic) load that each caster will support. A safety factor should be included in your formula to determine your required load rating per caster.
W/(C-1)=R W is total weight needed to move. C is total number of casters required. R is ideal load rating, with safety factor built in. Divide the total load weight by one less caster than you will use to safely determine load rating.
Plate dimensions shown are overall mounting plate size.
When replacing existing casters, select the closest plate size and verify bolt-hole compatibility.
BHP = Bolt Hole Pattern, shown under each plate.

4 x 2 in casters and wheels in polyurethane, nylon and rubber, 4 in wheels, rated 300 to 2,000 lb per caster.
| Band | Rating | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Complete 4 x 2 casters | About 110 to 4,000 lb per caster | True max 4,000; not legacy 2,000 meta |
| Bare 4 x 2 wheels | About 200 to 23,000 lb per wheel | Hamilton forged steel highs |
Admin ACTIVE for 4-x-2-casters-wheels, October 26, 2026: casters about 110 to 4,000; wheels to 23,000 [S1].
Complete caster titles top out about 4,000 lb each. Bare wheels can list much higher with no yoke rating. Use the number on the listing you buy.
5 x 2 rolls over debris easier and often carries more at the same plate family. 4 x 2 stays lower for tight carts and racks.
