Combination Brake BC Series Casters — Total-Lock, Up to 850 lb | CasterHQ

Why lock the swivel too

A wheel-only brake stops the cart rolling — but the swivel can still rotate, so the cart can pivot and creep. A combination brake locks both: the wheel won't roll and the fork won't turn. For equipment that has to stay precisely placed — medical and lab carts, AV rigs, display fixtures, instrument stands — that's the difference between 'parked' and 'parked and won't move.'

BC Series construction

The BC Series pairs the combination-brake mechanism with light-to-medium-duty rigging to 850 lb, in the standard wheel materials — polyurethane and TPR for finished-floor and quiet-zone equipment, where total-lock braking is most often required. One pedal, both functions, no fumbling for two separate brakes.

Common questions

What does a combination brake lock?

Both the wheel (won't roll) and the swivel (won't rotate) — with a single pedal. Also called total-lock.

Combination brake vs wheel brake?

A wheel brake stops rolling but the cart can still pivot on the swivel. Combination brake locks both for true 'won't move' parking.

What capacity is the BC Series?

Up to 850 lb per caster — light-to-medium duty, the range where total-lock braking is most commonly specified.
