Durastar Casters | Light-Medium Duty Casters - 24 SERIES - Grip Ring Stem Casters

What are grip ring stem casters? Grip ring stem casters mount using a smooth cylindrical stem with a compression ring that press-fits into a socket or tube leg. Once inserted, the grip ring expands to lock the caster in place without tools or threading. They are the standard mounting type for wire shelving units, light-duty racks, and tubular furniture where quick installation and removal are needed.

From Our Engineers: Grip Ring Stem Tips

  • Measure the socket ID, not the old stem. Grip ring stems compress to fit — the socket inner diameter determines your size. A 7/16" stem fits a 7/16" ID socket.
  • Not for heavy loads. Grip rings rely on friction, not threads. For loads over 350 lbs per caster, switch to threaded stems or expanding adapters.
  • Wire shelving standard is 1/2" stem. Metro, Eagle, and most commercial wire shelving uses 1/2" grip ring sockets. This is the single most common grip ring size we sell.
  • Replacement is tool-free. Pull straight out with firm force to remove, push straight in to install. No wrenches needed.
