All measurements indicate the wheel diameter by the tread width.
The below capacity ranges indicate the working (dynamic) load that each caster will support. A safety factor should be included in your formula to determine your required load rating per caster.
W/(C-1)=R W is total weight needed to move. C is total number of casters required. R is ideal load rating, with safety factor built in. Divide the total load weight by one less caster than you will use to safely determine load rating.
Plate dimensions shown are overall mounting plate size.
When replacing existing casters, select the closest plate size and verify bolt-hole compatibility.
BHP = Bolt Hole Pattern, shown under each plate.

Durastar is the spec-grade industrial caster line built for continuous-duty operation in warehouses, manufacturing, and material handling. Sealed precision bearings, polyurethane-on-cast-iron wheels, kingpinless rigs for towline service. CasterHQ stocks 1,666 Durastar SKUs for same-day shipment.
Three engineering choices: (1) sealed precision ball + tapered roller bearings standard (not loose ball), so they survive wash-down and dust without seizing; (2) bonded polyurethane on cast iron core wheels (not glued), so the tread can't delaminate under shock loads; (3) heat-treated kingpinless swivel construction — there's no kingpin to wear out under continuous towline service.
Durastar fits the spec sweet spot when you need engineered industrial quality with same-day availability. Hamilton offers slightly better load capacity and traceability but at 2-3 week lead. Albion is the same-day workhorse but uses standard ball bearings on most lines. Durastar is the bridge — sealed precision standard, same-day ship, no premium pricing.
Bonded polyurethane on iron core: 5-7 years in 8-hour shift continuous duty. Sealed precision bearings: 8-10 years before bearing replacement required. Total caster service life: typically 7-10 years. Compare to commodity casters that need full replacement at 18-30 months under same conditions.
Yes — Durastar kingpinless construction is designed for inline floor conveyor and towline service. Heat-treated raceway, sealed precision bearings, no kingpin to wear or fatigue. Standard ratings up to 5 mph continuous towline with no maintenance interval. For heavier towline (10+ mph or > 4,000 lb per caster), spec Durastar's premium HD line.
| Type | Wheel Material | Capacity | Best Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plate Swivel/Rigid | Polyurethane on Iron | up to 1,500 lb | General warehouse + manufacturing |
| Stem Mount | Polyurethane on Iron | up to 800 lb | Carts, hand trucks, equipment |
| Kingpinless Heavy | Forged Steel Wheel | up to 5,000 lb | Towline + heavy industrial |
| Total Lock Brake | Various wheels | Wheel rating | Surgical, lab, equipment positioning |
For wash-down environments (food processing, sterile processing, parking garage) spec Durastar with stainless rig + sealed precision bearings. Durastar's stainless line is direct competitor to Hamilton's stainless at 30-40% lower price + same-day vs 2-3 week lead.
Custom durometer, hub material, plate spec, or non-standard size — engineering team turns RFQs same day.
Durastar is engineered in the USA with manufacturing across multiple facilities. Premium HD industrial lines are domestic; standard plate/stem lines are sourced from quality-controlled overseas partners with US engineering oversight. All Durastar products carry the same warranty regardless of source.
Durastar uses sealed precision ball OR sealed tapered roller bearings standard (depending on the line). Cheaper casters use loose ball bearings that have to be regreased every few months and let dirt/water into the race. Durastar sealed bearings are factory-lubed for life and actively repel contamination.
Standard 1-year manufacturer warranty. Sealed precision bearings carry extended 2-year coverage on rated industrial duty cycles. Wheels covered for tread separation under normal service for the full warranty period.
Yes — submit RFQ. Custom plate sizes and stem configurations typically lead 2-4 weeks. Common requests: 4"x4-1/2" plate (standard), 5"x6-1/4" plate (heavy industrial), 7/8" or 1" round threaded stem, 1-1/2" expanding stem for tubular frames.
Yes — Durastar's premium polyurethane line uses 85A durometer compounds on aluminum hubs for 12-15% lower push force than standard 95A on iron. For ergonomic compliance under continuous push (manufacturing line carts, AGV applications), spec Durastar premium poly + ball bearings.
