All measurements indicate the wheel diameter by the tread width.
The below capacity ranges indicate the working (dynamic) load that each caster will support. A safety factor should be included in your formula to determine your required load rating per caster.
W/(C-1)=R W is total weight needed to move. C is total number of casters required. R is ideal load rating, with safety factor built in. Divide the total load weight by one less caster than you will use to safely determine load rating.
Plate dimensions shown are overall mounting plate size.
When replacing existing casters, select the closest plate size and verify bolt-hole compatibility.
BHP = Bolt Hole Pattern, shown under each plate.
Load shown is the rated capacity of the whole truck.
ESCORT is Stevens' name for its appliance trucks. All four here share the parts that made the name: patented roller bearing crawler treads for stairs, a 3-ply, 2-piece, 14 ft strap on a ratchet tightener with automatic recoil, and non-marking SNAPLOK vinyl bumpers on the uprights.
They differ in frame, wheels and what is under the back. The SRT and SRT-8 are steel, the MRT is magnesium, and the SRT-M-66 adds swivel kickout casters for vending machines.
| Model | Frame | Wheels | Load capacity | Truck weight | Price | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SRT | Steel, 3/4 in tube | 6 x 2 in cushion tread | 750 lb | 51 lb | $575.00 | Pavement and floors |
| SRT-8 | Steel, 1 in tube | 8 x 2-1/2 in solid rubber | 800 lb | 53 lb | $609.00 | Gravel, grass, curbs |
| MRT | Magnesium I-beam | 6 x 2 in cushion tread | 500 lb | 41 lb | $665.00 | Lifting the truck all day |
| SRT-M-66 | Steel, 1 in tube | 8 x 2 in + 2 swivel kickout casters | 1,200 lb | 74 lb | $1,029.00 | Vending machines, coolers |
Behind each wheel is a crawler tread: an aluminum frame carrying a row of plastic roller bearings with a V-belt running over them. On flat ground the crawlers sit clear of the floor. On stairs, tip the truck to the balance point and the belt meets the step nosing. The belt rolls over the rollers, so the load glides from one step edge to the next instead of the wheels dropping off each tread.
Going up, the operator stands above the load, backs up the stairs and pulls. Going down, the operator stays below the load and lets the crawlers slide each edge while a helper steadies the top. Keep the strap tight and the load centered on the footplate the whole way.

The SRT-M-66 at 1,200 lb. Of the two-wheel trucks, the SRT-8 at 800 lb.
The MRT at 41 lb.
Yes on the SRT (BWA-S) and MRT (BWA-M). Not on the SRT-M-66. Call about the SRT-8.
