- Polished concrete and epoxy: Polyurethane 85A on steel hub. Floor protection priority. 5-6 inch wheel.
- Sealed concrete: Polyurethane 85A or 90A. Slightly harder for less rolling resistance.
- Raw warehouse slab: Polyurethane 95A on steel hub. Higher durometer for less chip-out and less rolling resistance.
- Outdoor yard and dock: Polyurethane 95A or pneumatic. Larger diameter (8-10 inch) for shock absorption.
- Chemical exposure (light): Polyurethane 85A-95A on stainless or coated hub. Resistant to most industrial chemicals.
An injection molding plant in Plano had been running soft polyurethane (75A) casters on tooling carts across raw shop concrete. Wheels were chunking out at 4-6 month intervals.
