All measurements indicate the wheel diameter by the tread width.
The below capacity ranges indicate the working (dynamic) load that each caster will support. A safety factor should be included in your formula to determine your required load rating per caster.
W/(C-1)=R W is total weight needed to move. C is total number of casters required. R is ideal load rating, with safety factor built in. Divide the total load weight by one less caster than you will use to safely determine load rating.
Plate dimensions shown are overall mounting plate size.
When replacing existing casters, select the closest plate size and verify bolt-hole compatibility.
BHP = Bolt Hole Pattern, shown under each plate.

Hamilton pneumatic GSE casters run air-filled tires on steel rims for outdoor ground support, flightline, and gravel-yard service. Larger tires and higher inflation carry more load over rougher ground, so size the tire to your terrain and load and inflate to the rated pressure.
| Series / Config | Size | Capacity | Wheel | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Heavy Pneumatic GSE | 16" tire | up to 8,400 lb | Air-filled pneumatic tire on steel rim | Heaviest GSE dollies, flightline transport |
| Standard Pneumatic GSE | 13" tire | up to 5,500 lb | Air-filled pneumatic tire on steel rim | Outdoor ground support, gravel yards |
| Medium Pneumatic | 10" tire | up to 3,000 lb | Air-filled pneumatic tire on steel rim | Transition surfaces, mixed indoor and outdoor |
| Light Pneumatic | 8" tire | up to 1,400 lb | Air-filled pneumatic tire on steel rim | Light outdoor carts, uneven pavement |

Add cart weight plus payload, divide by the number of casters, then add 25%. Pneumatic capacity is tied directly to tire size and inflation pressure, so a correctly sized but under-inflated tire will not carry its rating. The heavy config reaches up to 8,400 lb per caster on a 16" tire at rated pressure.
Every config in this line is an air-filled pneumatic tire on a steel rim, and the air cushion is the point. It absorbs shock from gravel, cracked pavement, and ramp transitions that would stop or jar a hard wheel, and larger-diameter tires roll over bigger obstacles and bridge wider seams.
Verify the top plate and bolt pattern against your equipment, and account for the larger swing radius of a big pneumatic swivel. Set and maintain the tire to its rated pressure, because both the load rating and the ride depend on it; an under-inflated tire runs hot, loses capacity, and wears the sidewall.
Pneumatic GSE casters are built for outdoor flightline, gravel and unpaved yards, and surfaces that change between concrete and rough ground. The air tire is the right answer when terrain is uneven and impacts are unavoidable, keeping aerospace ground support and defense yard loads moving where a solid wheel cannot.
A pneumatic GSE caster uses an air-filled tire on a steel rim, like a vehicle tire, mounted in a caster rig for outdoor ground support equipment. The air cushion absorbs shock from gravel, cracked pavement, and ramp transitions that would jar a hard wheel. Hamilton builds them up to 8,400 lb per caster.
The Hamilton pneumatic GSE line reaches up to 8,400 lb per caster on a 16" air-filled tire at rated pressure, and we cross-reference heavier dollies. Call 844-439-4335 with your loaded weight, terrain, and frame details and we will match the tire and rig.
Each pneumatic tire has a stamped rated inflation pressure, and the load capacity is only valid at that pressure, so run it at the rated PSI and check it on a schedule. Under-inflation loses capacity, runs the tire hot, and wears the sidewall. Call 844-439-4335 for the correct pressure.
Yes, outdoor service is exactly what they are for. They are built for flightline, gravel and unpaved yards, and transition surfaces, where the air tire bridges seams and absorbs impacts a hard wheel cannot, and are commonly specified for aerospace ground support and defense yard transport.
Match tire diameter to the roughest surface the caster crosses: larger tires roll over bigger obstacles and bridge wider seams, smaller tires suit lighter carts on uneven pavement. Tire size also sets capacity, from about 1,400 lb on an 8" tire to 8,400 lb on a 16" tire. Give us your terrain and load and we will size it.
Yes. Hamilton Caster has manufactured in Hamilton, Ohio since 1907, and the pneumatic GSE line is built there. CasterHQ is a Hamilton authorized distributor shipping from Mansfield, Texas.
