All measurements indicate the wheel diameter by the tread width.
The below capacity ranges indicate the working (dynamic) load that each caster will support. A safety factor should be included in your formula to determine your required load rating per caster.
W/(C-1)=R W is total weight needed to move. C is total number of casters required. R is ideal load rating, with safety factor built in. Divide the total load weight by one less caster than you will use to safely determine load rating.
Plate dimensions shown are overall mounting plate size.
When replacing existing casters, select the closest plate size and verify bolt-hole compatibility.
BHP = Bolt Hole Pattern, shown under each plate.
Procurement teams ask the same three questions every quarter. Which brand is best for our load class. Which brand actually ships on time. Which brand passes Buy American and DFARS. This hub answers all three, brand by brand, with cross-comparisons that let you spec the right rig without the marketing fog.

One-paragraph profile of every major industrial caster brand buyers cross-reference.
Hamilton, OH. Founded 1907. The reference brand for 5,000-30,000+ lb extreme-duty. Kingpinless construction, forged steel, mill-cert documentation. Premium price (~30-50% above mainstream). Lead times have historically slipped on heavy SKUs.
Albion, MI. Broad mainstream industrial coverage from 1,500-8,000 lb. US-made on most series. Strong in MRO, plant maintenance, and OEM equipment frames. Typically priced 10-20% below Hamilton on overlapping SKUs.
Jonesboro, AR. Strongest in 200-1,500 lb medium-duty. Wide stainless and washdown selection (4 Series, Encore, Stainless Performa). Heavy presence in food, pharma, healthcare, lab, and institutional cart applications.
Long-tenured industrial brand with broad 300-2,500 lb coverage. Common in legacy plant fleets and OEM equipment frames. Mappings into CasterHQ HQ Series are direct on most SKUs.
Roseland, NJ. Strong in 1,500-8,000 lb industrial and aftermarket replacement business. Kingpinless and dual-wheel options. Used widely in heavy steel mill, foundry, and forge handling.
Faultless (Evansville, IN) focuses on institutional and material handling. Darnell-Rose specializes in light to medium twin-wheel design with patented swivel mechanisms. Both fill overlapping spec slots with Colson on lighter capacity SKUs.
A procurement-side cheat sheet for matching brand to application without overspending.

| Industrial (1,500-3,000 lb) | Albion, Colson, Bassick | Medium Heavy-Duty |
| Medium duty (500-1,500 lb) | Colson, Bassick, Faultless | Medium-Duty |
| Stainless / washdown | Colson, specialty Hamilton | Stainless Steel |
| Cleanroom / pharma | Colson Stainless, Hamilton CleanLine | Pharma / Cleanroom Hub |

Six common procurement scenarios and the brand path that wins each one.
If the equipment spec calls out a specific brand, match it. If not, the right path is Albion or HQ equivalent on most rigs above 1,500 lb. Reserve Hamilton for the spec-critical 5,000+ lb stations.
Hamilton, Albion, and most major brands carry multi-week lead times on heavy SKUs. CasterHQ ships brand-equivalent rigs same day from Mansfield, TX. Spec match the rig, not the label.
Hamilton, Albion, and RWM all offer DFARS-compliant lots with mill certs. Verify at quote, not delivery. CasterHQ can pull DFARS lots and ship with full chain-of-custody documentation.
Colson Stainless and Hamilton CleanLine are the reference brands. Spec 304 or 316 stainless rig, sealed precision bearing, NSF-grade material. Most carts run sub-1,000 lb so Colson wins on price and availability.
Hamilton Heavy or Colson Precision swivel rigs dominate. Spec dual ball precision swivel, polyurethane on cast iron wheel, sealed bearings. Lead time is the procurement bottleneck so plan 8-12 weeks or pull a stocked equivalent.
Kingpinless construction is non-negotiable above 2,500 lb per caster. Hamilton, Albion, and RWM all build kingpinless heavy. DFARS lot pulls common. Pair with hi-temp grease and sealed precision bearings.
Send us the brand part number, the application, or the spec sheet. We will pull the matching CasterHQ rig, confirm DFARS or Buy American where required, and ship same-day from Mansfield, TX.
